Harvard Prof. Ali Khademhosseini Appointed as WUT Visiting Professor
On Feb 25th, Prof. Ali Khademhosseini from Harvard University was officially appointed as a WUT visiting professor. The ceremony was held in Room 301 of Conference Center. Vice president Liu Zuyuan attended the ceremony. Participants include faculty and students from School of Materials Science and Engineering and leaders and staff from WUT Human Resource Department, WUT International Affairs Office, and the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing.
On behalf of the university, vice president Liu Zuyuan delivered the letter of appointment to Prof. Ali Khademhosseini and extended cordial welcome to him. President Liu stated that the materials discipline is the key prior discipline in our university and we are striving to rank it ESI top 1‰ during the 13th Five Year Plan period. To achieve this goal, WUT sets international strategy as an important measure. As Prof. Ali Khademhosseini is a famous international scholar, Liu encouraged WUT faculty and students to take advantage of excellent resources and work with Prof. Ali Khademhosseini to develop the materials discipline. Leader of WUT State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing introduced Prof. Ali Khademhosseini’s academic achievements.
Prof. Ali Khademhosseini said that it was both an honor and a responsibility for him and he would actively promote the comprehensive cooperation between WUT and Harvard Medical School and make good use of his learning and resources for WUT.
After the ceremony, Prof. Ali Khademhosseini delivered two speeches: Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering and Microgel Used in Regenerative Medicine respectively.
Ali Khademhosseini is a Professor at Harvard Medical School (HMS), chair of the Bionanotechnology Technical Activities Committee for the IEEE-EMBS. He was named a TR35 recipient by the Technology Review Magazine as one of the world’s top young innovators. He is author of more than 400 research papers published on international journals and over 60 book chapters/edited books. He has more than 20 patents. His work has been published in leading journals and routinely highlighted in international media. He has been cited more than 19,000 times and has an H-index of 74. Also, he has given over 250 invited seminars and keynote lectures on international forums and he has won over 30 major national and international awards.
